The Rent Bill

CLIENT
Hyresgästföreningen
You take the bill? Or should I? Who should pay what and how much is not always completely obvious. Especially not in tenancy negotiations where two parties are facing each other. Tenants and property owners.
Before the negotiations in 2023, the property owners used rising interest rates, inflation and the world political situation as arguments to raise the rents significantly. Our client needed a campaign and message to unite tenants.
CREATIVE SOLUTION
We asked ourselves why should the tenants take the brunt of the financial situation? It’s not the case that property owners lower rents in boom times. And the fact that the property owners have high profit margins is kind of forgotten in the debate.
We chose to illustrate the negotiation situation with a classic restaurant bill where it’s clear that it’s not only operating costs and the like that affect the rent. It’s largely the profit interests of the property owners. In bad times, the responsibility should lie on both shoulders to find a level of solidarity that the tenants can afford to pay.
The campaign ran on social media and as posters and flyers.
